We love to hear and tell stories because our lives are a succession of stories. We relate to one another through these stories.

Every successful person I know is a great storyteller.

For many years, my wife was a successful executive recruiter. I would listen to her talk to candidates and clients for hours. She would tell them stories and listen to their stories. Being the perceptive business guy that I am, I told her she was wasting her time. She could talk to a lot more people and can get a lot more done if she would just focus on the facts. Well, she proved me wrong, and my research is now based on listening to people’s stories. This website is about stories. My ethical intelligence books are full of stories; stories about people who live real lives, suffered through negotiations and conflict resolutions, and confided in me so that I could help improve the lives of others.
